The world of James Bond lost one of its biggest stars last week when Richard Kiel, who played Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker passed away. He was aged 74.
Having recently been looking on Google at different images from Moonraker I think I might have stumbled upon the following from what might have been a deleted scene from the movie:
Following the BondMisc exclusive where Ian Fleming's niece Lucy Fleming had revealed to us the radio dramatisation of On Her Majesty's Secret Service would be aired on 3 May 2014, at 2:30pm, - OHMSS RADIO PLAY COMING IN MAY - an article has surfaced on the Radio Times website confirming the details given to us by Ms. Fleming, and also confirming some other interesting details. The article published online on 18.03.2014. reads as follows: Today I'd like to wish 007 actor Timothy Dalton a very Happy Birthday! When I first became a bond fan it must have been around 1998 as it was after The Living Daylights was released - but before Licence To Kill arrived in the cinemas. I can recall watching The Living Daylights having rented it from the local garage whilst spending the weekend with my Grandma and Grandad. I was also gutted when Licence To Kill was released as a 15 Certificate and this meant I couldn't go and see it at the cinema as I was too young - but my aunt did help by getting me a copy of it on video - which was a video shop copy - long before it was available to buy. Since then as I have grown older and watched all of the Bond movies and I think that not only is Dalton the closest to Ian Fleming's Bond but also he gives an excellent performance in his two films. Stay tuned to Bond Miscellany where in the near future I'll be writing a full-length article in praise of Dalton's all too brief stint as 007. Bond composer David Arnold is busy writing a new musical based on the 2010 m Made in Dagenhan. Arnold, who wrote the scores for Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace is writing the musical which tells the tale of the fight for equal rights for women at the Ford Motor Company's factory in Dagenhan, Essex. As you will see from the below Tweets this is the first time that Arnold has written a musical - but he is enjoying the change: The musical will also feature Bond Girl Gemma Arterton in the lead role of. Gemma played Agent Fields in quantum of Solace and has since gone on to other successful roles on both stage and screen. You know you're an avid Bond fan - coming close to addict - when 007 influences parts of your life that perhaps it shouldn't.
I can't wait to hear the BBC Radio adaptation of Ian Fleming's On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Staring Toby 'Gustav Graves' Stephens as 007 the show will feature the absolutely fabulous Joanna Lumley as Bond's ill-fated bride Tracey. Lumley appeared as one of Blofeld's Angels of Death in the 1969 film of OHMSS. At present the date the adaptation will be broadcast has yet to be confirmed, although the recording was completed in May 2013. I Tweeted Ian Fleming's niece Lucy Fleming and she didn't appear to know either: The previous BBC Radio Plays, produced by Jarvis and Ayers Productions were premiered on 24 May 2008 for Dr No, 3 April 2010 for Goldfinger and 21 July 2012 for From Russia With Love so hopefully we will not have to wait too long. *************STOP THE PRESS*********** Earlier this afternoon I had the following Tweet from Lucy Fleming: Thanks for sharing that Lucy! And make sure and put the date in your diary for what should be an excellent radio drama! I'm off to sort a babysitter! A few months ago I found something rarer that Rocking Horse Poo - a copy of a film staring George Lazenby that I didn't know ever existed -1986's Never Too Young To Die. The film tells the story of Lance Stargrove who discovers that his father Drew was a spy but only after he his murdered by the evil hermaphrodite Velvet Von Ragner. Lance teams up with his fathers colleague Danja Deering and they set off to seek revenge. |
