STOPPING OFF AT SHRUBLANDS

A few months ago I managed to take a detour on a journey home to stop off at the Luton Hoo Hotel and Spa which featured as Shrublands Health Farm in Never Say Never Again.
As you can see the photo's and the below video clip - showing Sean Connery arriving in his vintage Bentley - the exterior of the location has changed very little since the rogue  007 adventure was released in 1983.

I didn't realise at the time but all of the scenes filmed at Shrublands were filmed on location at the hotel. I'm glad to report though that I didn't cause as much havoc on my visit as when 007 battled to the death with Lippe.

But Never Say Never Again is not the only James Bond film to have been filmed there.

In The World Is Not Enough, following the scenes where Bond and Elektra survive the attack from Parahawks Bond is asked by a Doctor to go and see Elektra. The staircase that was used in that scene is also at Luton Hoo.

So it was a great visit as I got to see two different film locations for the price of one! And I was especially happy that it was also seen in The World Is Not Enough as that is one of my favourite Brosnan Bond films.

Great photos, and what a deal to visit 2 locations at once.

Thanks for the post. I was planning to visit Luton. Now it will be easier to find James Bond locations.
