Recently there has been a trickle of information leaking out about Bond 24. Not only the usual tabloid gossip were every Glamour Model under the Sun wants to be the next Bond Girl but comments from actors, writers and producers all directly linked with the film.
This has started me me thinking about what I would like to see in the film and here are my musings:
START THE FILM WITH A TRADITIONAL GUNBARREL SEQUENCE
Call me old-fashioned but there was always something about the start of a Bond film opening with the iconic gunbarrel sequence which somehow sets you up for the thrills, spills, action and adventure that are going to follow in the next 90 minutes or so. Please after an absence of 3 movies can we have the gunbarrel in its traditional form and back at the start of the movie.
PLEASE CAN THE ASTON MARTIN HAVE SOME GADGETS
I know that Q Branch don't go in for exploding pens anymore but please could the Aston Martin that 007 will be driving have some gadgets so that it doesn't just become a car that stands out like a sore thumb and is completely impractical for the undercover work of a Secret Agent. And can we see the gadgets in action unlike the BMW Z3 in Goldeneye.
CAN 'M' NOT BE CENTRAL TO THE FILMS PLOT
Since taking over the role of 'M' in Goldeneye Judi Dench had more and more screen time than any of her predecessors in the role. Now I can understand that EON Productions would want to make the most of an award winning actress such as Dame Judi, but two of the films were in essence revenge films with people out to get her.
Now we have a new 'M' in Ralph Fiennes Gareth Mallory, I hope that his character will not be as central to the plot - and that the script writers will look to new and exciting adventures for 007 instead of being a glorified bodyguard for his boss.
I don't mind if the new 'M' is out in the field a bit more - the Skyfall scenes in the courtroom where he grabbed a gun and joined in were excellent - but lets just not make the whole film about him.
LETS SEE DOUBLE-O-SEVEN DOWN UNDER
No I don't mean that - we saw enough of Daniel Craig in his Casino Royale torture scenes and in those blue swim-shorts thank you very much!
I can't believe in all this time 007 hasn't got to go to Australia - so wouldn't it be great for him to get to go there in Bond 24? Imagine fight scenes on Ayers Rock or diving scenes in the tropical waters surrounding the Great Barrier Reef. Australia is a country full of contrasts and it would be great to see him pay it a visit.
