I love a bargain!
No I can't help it - I love to get Bond items for my collection - but if I can get them for a thrifty price then all the better!
And I'm not the only one - my wife likes it when I don't spend a lot of money on Bond stuff too! £17.50 instead of £35 - count me in!
I was glad to read somewhere sometime back that the scenes in Skyfall where Bond has a shave - with a bit of help from Eve Moneypenny - the shave bowel he used had a link to the Bond of Ian Fleming's books - and with Ian Fleming himself. I'd like to think it was a deliberate yet subtle link added by the film makers - it might not be - perhaps it's just a coincidence - who knows?
The shaving bowl and shaving soap used by Bond in these scenes if from Floris of London, and contains their Floris 89 Shaving Soap.
Floris 89 - so called after the original London address of Floris - 89 Jermyn Street - was a particular
London address of Floris - 89 Jermyn Street - was a particular favourite of Ian Fleming himself. As Fleming liked to use real-life products in his novels - which i believe added to the authenticity of his 007 adventures - Floris products in the novels Dr No, Moonraker and Diamonds Are Forever.
Orange and Bergamot blended with Lavender and Neroli give No.89 its classical cologne aspect. Warmed with a touch of spicy Nutmeg, the floral heart is underscored by the dominant woody accord of Sandalwood, Cedarwood and Vetiver in this quintessentially English gentleman's fragrance.
When the package arrived a few days after I placed my order I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail which had gone into packing the item. This is the first time that I had ordered anything from such a high-end company - and it made me get excited - I just wanted to see wat was inside!
Once opened, which did take a little while as I was also taking the below photo's - I was thrilled with the item - it is very stylish contemporary with a touch of old world style and charm. I couldn't wait to have a shave - as this was one Bond item that wasn't going to sit on a shelf - and I must admit - having used the shaving soap for a few months now it is brilliant! Not only does it help to keep your skin soft and result in a nice close shave but a little goes a long way - and I can see me using it well into 2015 before I need a replacement.
Floris was also kind enough to send me some samples of their range of men's aftershaves/colognes. I recently splashed on the Floris 89 to my sisters wedding and it got a few compliments from family members!
Although the Floris sale is now over that saw me get this item for a discounted price I still think that £35 is a reasonable price for something that is not only a quality product but also something that will last for a considerable amount of time.
If you'd like to order one you can do so by ordering from the Floris website by clicking HERE. Alternatively if in London you could call in at their store at 89 Jermyn Street or their newer store at 147 Ebury Street - which is on the same street where Ian Fleming lived - a face that is comemorated by an English Heritage Blue Plaque.
